The day came early at 4 am. We were off in the dark at 4:30 am by full moon and a touch of breeze ripping on the water. Boats gently bobbing on their moorings and anchors wishing us fair winds as we head from Newport, RI to Halifax today. Anticipated sailing time 3 days, 2 nights.
Captain Charlie has run several different simulations on Predict Wind to pick the optimal amount of sailing time while avoiding dangerous seas. Maximum winds of 30 knots and seas of 3-6 feet--easy sailing for Paradigm. Right now we are gently rocking from port to starboard in 2 foot rollers and light winds. This may be our last post for a wee bit.
Sunrise over Nantucket Sound.
Geoff takes first watch. Jeanie keeps a close look out for lobster traps.
